The NASA Astrobiology Program has announced the Astrobiology Early Career Collaboration Award (ECCA), which provides funding of up to $5,000 for research-related travel. This initiative aims to support undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and early career scientists in their pursuit of collaborative research opportunities.

The ECCA encourages recipients to travel between two or more laboratories associated with the NASA Astrobiology Program. Eligible research environments include the Research Coordination Networks (RCNs), Interdisciplinary Consortia for Astrobiology Research (ICAR), and other relevant projects within the field. Applications for any travel deemed critical for the applicant’s research will also be accepted.

To qualify for the award, applicants must have formal affiliations with recognized U.S. institutions. This requirement ensures that the program supports those engaged in astrobiology research within the United States.

Applications for the ECCA must be submitted by October 15, 2025. Interested candidates can find more information and apply through NASA’s official website at https://science.nasa.gov/astrobiology/researchers/early-career/ecc/.

This initiative not only provides financial support but also fosters collaboration across various research networks, amplifying the impact of early career scientists in the evolving field of astrobiology. By facilitating travel and interaction among laboratories, NASA aims to enhance the research opportunities available to emerging scholars in this critical area of study.
