Community Invited to Build Strength at Lunenburg Library Series

The Lunenburg Public Library is launching a five-week fitness initiative titled “Strong Women Stay Young,” aimed at empowering community members through strength training. This program will commence on September 30, 2023, at 10:15 a.m., and will continue every Tuesday until October 28, 2023.
Led by certified instructor Niki Holtzman, the series is designed for beginners and is based on the scientifically validated strength-training method that underpins the widely recognized Bone Builders program. Holtzman emphasized the program’s focus on helping adults maintain their independence and vitality, stating, “The series has been shown to reverse bone loss, improve balance and energy, and increase core strength—all essential for staying active and healthy.”
Participants can expect a well-rounded class structure that includes both seated and standing exercises. The sessions will utilize two hand weights, ranging from 2 to 4 pounds, along with one ankle weight, weighing between 2 to 5 pounds. Each class will start with a warm-up and stretching, followed by targeted strengthening routines, and conclude with a cool-down session.
Additionally, attendees will receive a take-home routine to reinforce their weekly practice. This program not only aims to enhance physical strength but also fosters a sense of community among participants.
Registration is mandatory for the first class, and a minimum of twelve participants is required to initiate the series. Interested individuals can obtain further information or register by visiting the Lunenburg Public Library’s website at lunenburglibrary.org or by calling 978-582-4140.
This initiative represents an important opportunity for community members to engage in health-promoting activities, emphasizing the significance of strength training as a means to enhance quality of life.
