UPDATE: Frankfort High School has just secured an impressive 48-8 victory over the Tucker County Mountain Lions, extending their win streak to an astonishing 18 games. This dominating performance took place on September 22, 2023, in Short Gap, West Virginia, marking their fourth straight win this season following an undefeated 14-0 record last year.

The Falcons wasted no time establishing control, leading 14-0 after the first quarter and 28-0 by halftime. Their relentless offense kept the pressure on throughout the game, including a staggering 85-yard kickoff return for a touchdown late in the fourth quarter, sealing the victory.

It was not only a night of triumph on the field but also a heartfelt tribute to the legacy of Ridgeley High School, which closed in 1976. Past Ridgeley players were honored, and the Frankfort team donned special jerseys bearing the Ridgeley name, showcasing their pride in the school’s history.

“It was a nice win for us. They had a 23-game regular season win streak going, and we increased our overall win streak to 18 wins now,” said Frankfort coach Kevin Whiteman.

Frankfort’s offensive onslaught began immediately, with Kaiden McKenzie scoring on a seven-yard rush. Rhett Sensabaugh converted the extra point, putting the Falcons ahead 7-0. The team continued to dominate, with multiple players contributing to the score, including Bradyn Tyler and Gunnar Bradshaw, who returned an interception for a touchdown.

Despite a late-game touchdown from Tucker County, the Falcons’ defense held strong all night. “We did much better with that this week than we did last week,” Whiteman noted, highlighting the team’s improved performance against Tucker’s passing attack.

With this victory, Frankfort’s offense showcased a total of 356 yards while limiting Tucker County to just 157 yards. The Falcons rushed for 288 yards and scored on both offense and special teams.

Looking ahead, Frankfort (4-0) will travel to face Northern on September 29, 2023, while Tucker County (3-1) is set to host Webster County the same night. Whiteman anticipates a tough match against Northern. “It’s going to be a hard-nosed, physical football game,” he stated.

This win not only solidifies Frankfort’s dominance in the league but also serves as a reminder of the strong community ties and rich history that continue to inspire the team. As the Falcons keep their sights set on the season ahead, fans can expect more thrilling football to come.
