Scorsese Announces DiCaprio & Lawrence for New Film in 2026

BREAKING: Martin Scorsese has just announced his next film, reuniting with Oscar-winner Leonardo DiCaprio and casting fellow Oscar-winner Jennifer Lawrence. The highly anticipated project will adapt the ghost story novel What Happens at Night by Peter Cameron, set to begin production in January 2026.
This collaboration marks the seventh time Scorsese directs DiCaprio, following their successful films like The Wolf of Wall Street and Killers of the Flower Moon. It will be the first time Scorsese has directed Lawrence, who is coming off a successful year, including her role in Die, My Love, which premiered at Cannes and hits U.S. theaters this November.
Apple Original Films, which produced Scorsese’s recent hit, is negotiating to finance the project alongside StudioCanal. The screenplay is penned by Patrick Marber, known for acclaimed works such as Closer and The Critic.
The announcement has generated significant buzz, as fans eagerly await Scorsese’s 27th feature film. While speculation swirled around various projects—including a mob film set in Hawaii featuring Dwayne Johnson—the adaptation of What Happens at Night has risen to the forefront.
In the meantime, DiCaprio’s latest venture, One Battle After Another, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, is set to debut in the U.S. next week, receiving rave reviews. Reports indicate he was previously eyeing multiple projects, including a biopic about Evel Knievel, before committing to this adaptation.
With Scorsese’s reputation for masterful storytelling and the star power of DiCaprio and Lawrence, this film is poised to be one of the most talked-about cinematic events in upcoming years. Fans should keep an eye on developments as production approaches, though an official release date has yet to be announced.
