Norristown Man Arrested on Drug and Gun Charges at Hotspot

UPDATE: A Norristown man has been arrested on serious drug and weapons charges at a notorious drug hotspot in Chester Township. Vaughn Armand Davis, age 33, was taken into custody on Friday evening at the Highland Motel, a site known for high levels of drug activity.
At approximately 7:08 PM, police officer Michael Strofe was on patrol when he noticed a maroon Hyundai Elantra parked in the motel’s lot, with Davis sleeping inside. Authorities have identified this location as a frequent site for drug overdoses and ongoing narcotics investigations.
Upon approaching the vehicle, Officer Strofe announced himself multiple times, attempting to rouse Davis. After administering a brief sternum rub to wake him, Strofe discovered the butt of a firearm tucked in Davis’s lap, partially hidden by a black durag. The officer secured the 9mm Taurus handgun for safety and ordered Davis out of the vehicle.
Davis, appearing disoriented, admitted he lacked a license to carry a concealed weapon. He was promptly taken into custody. Officers found a THC vaping device, which Davis possessed legally under a medical marijuana card, along with 10 strips of Buprenorphine and Naloxone sublingual films.
Crucially, Davis was previously convicted as a felon, rendering him ineligible to own or possess a firearm. Following his arrest, he was arraigned before District Justice Michael F. Culp, who set bail at 10 percent of $250,000. Unable to post bail, he was transferred to Delaware County prison and is awaiting a preliminary hearing scheduled for September 24 before District Justice Diane M. Holefelder.
This arrest underscores ongoing concerns about drug-related activities in Chester Township, prompting law enforcement to intensify patrols in the area. Residents are urged to report any suspicious activities as authorities work tirelessly to combat the rising tide of narcotics incidents that have plagued this community.
