GSW Launches 24-Hour Day of Giving, Aiming for 600 Donors

URGENT UPDATE: Georgia Southwestern University (GSW) has launched its seventh annual Day of Giving, a crucial 24-hour fundraising event that started today, September 18, 2023. The university aims to rally support from alumni and community members by securing 600 donors within the day, including 250 alumni contributors and gifts from all 50 states.
Local businesses are stepping up to support this initiative. Over 30 restaurants and shops are participating, donating a percentage of their proceeds back to GSW. Each establishment has selected specific funds to support, allowing donors to contribute to athletics or particular academic programs. “We have a great variety of options for donors,” says Sydney Scott, a multimedia specialist at GSW.
The atmosphere is electric as GSW students, including Delaney Thomas and Elizabeth Sielski, engage with patrons at Café Campesino and other locations, encouraging them to give. “We are here to remind people to give and to show our appreciation to the donors,” Thomas said. “The purpose of the Day of Giving is to help students so that we can be successful,” Sielski added, emphasizing the impact of donations on scholarships, athletics, and student programs.
Donors can also contribute online, making it easier for the global community of Hurricanes—alumni, parents, friends, faculty, and staff—to unite in support of GSW. The university’s website highlights this event as a unique opportunity for supporters to come together and demonstrate their commitment to the institution and its students.
As the clock ticks down on this urgent fundraising event, GSW urges everyone to participate and make a difference. Every contribution counts in the effort to reach the day’s ambitious donor goals. The excitement is palpable, and the call to action resonates loudly: support GSW and help pave the way for student success.
