Emergency Services Respond to Multiple Incidents Across Worthington

URGENT UPDATE: Emergency services are responding to a series of incidents across Worthington and Brewster, Minnesota, including multiple crashes and medical emergencies reported over the weekend. As of September 16, 2025, officials urge residents to remain cautious as investigations continue.

At 1:24 a.m. Saturday, ambulances were dispatched to the 1300 block of Third Avenue in Brewster for an adult female in distress. Later, at 3:11 p.m., another ambulance was called to Third Avenue and 10th Street in Worthington, highlighting a surge in emergency calls.

On Sunday, September 15, a significant collision occurred in Mountain Lake Township around 3:15 p.m. involving two vehicles. The Minnesota State Patrol reports that Richard Dennis Peterson, 82, was driving a 2020 Dodge Ram 1500 eastbound on Minnesota 60 while Dominic Gemelli, 66, was behind the wheel of a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado southbound on Cottonwood County 1 when they collided at the intersection. Both drivers sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Windom Area Health Hospital. Thankfully, both were wearing seatbelts, and airbags did not deploy.

The scene was supported by the Mountain Lake Fire, Ambulance, and Police departments, alongside the Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office and Minnesota Department of Transportation.

In addition to these incidents, police reported a hit-and-run at 4:56 p.m. Sunday on the 300 block of West Clary Street. Authorities are currently investigating this and other disturbances, including multiple reports of theft and property damage in the area.

At 10:03 a.m. Friday, police issued a citation for a solid waste violation on the 900 block of Grandview Avenue, and by 10:58 a.m., officers were responding to a counterfeit bill report on the 1400 block of Oxford Street.

The Worthington Police Department is actively addressing various incidents, including a reported theft at 12:21 p.m. Friday and a verbal argument at 6:32 p.m.. On Monday, the police were also alerted to a burglary at 6:32 p.m. on the 1100 block of Sixth Avenue.

Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities as local authorities work to restore safety.
