Sony Pictures Television has renewed its first-run feature film slate agreement with Turkish pay TV operator Sinema TV. This new deal builds on a similar agreement established in 2021 and signifies the ongoing collaboration between the two companies, which provides Sinema TV with first-run rights to many of Sony’s most popular titles from both recent releases and its extensive library.

Under the terms of the deal, Sinema TV has secured exclusive pay-1 window rights in Turkey for a variety of upcoming films. Notable titles included in the agreement are “Karate Kid: Legends,” “28 Years Later,” “Until Dawn,” “I Know What You Did Last Summer (2025),” and “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey.” The agreement also encompasses several recent and classic films from Sony’s library, including “Bad Boys: Ride or Die,” “It Ends With Us,” “Paddington in Peru,” and notable franchises such as “Spider-Man,” “Jumanji,” “Venom,” “Men in Black,” “Karate Kid,” and “Hotel Transylvania.”

Impact on Turkish Pay-TV Landscape

The cinema and pay-TV landscape in Turkey is undergoing significant changes, with streaming services like Netflix and Disney+ gaining popularity among viewers. Despite this trend, traditional pay-TV operators and specialized movie channels such as Sinema TV continue to maintain a strong presence in the market. This resilience is bolstered by major studio agreements like the one recently extended with Sony.

In a statement regarding the renewal, Sinema TV’s CEO, Faruk Boyacıoğlu, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We are delighted to expand our long-standing partnership with Sony Pictures Television with a multi-year Pay 1 deal.” This sentiment was echoed by Mark Young, Executive Vice President of Distribution and Networks at Sony Pictures Television, who remarked, “It is fantastic to extend this major feature film deal with Sinema, and continue our collaborative relationship with the team there to bring some of the most exciting and popular titles from SPE’s current feature film slate, as well as those from our vast features library, to audiences across Turkey.”

The renewed agreement not only strengthens the bond between Sony Pictures Television and Sinema TV but also highlights the importance of traditional media in an increasingly digital landscape. As both companies look forward to the future, they aim to deliver high-quality content to Turkish audiences, ensuring that they remain engaged with cinema in all its forms.
