Utah Governor Reveals Tyler Robinson Uncooperative in Kirk Case
Utah Governor Spencer Cox disclosed that Tyler Robinson, the suspect in the assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, is not cooperating with law enforcement. During a series of interviews on October 15, 2023, Cox confirmed that Robinson’s live-in boyfriend is transgender and emphasized the need for continued investigation into the motive behind the shooting.
In interviews broadcast on Sunday morning, Cox noted that while Robinson is uncooperative, his family and romantic partner are assisting the FBI in their inquiries. He described Robinson as being “deeply indoctrinated in leftist ideology,” information he claims is based on conversations with those close to the suspect. “There were conversations that were discussed specifically about Charlie Kirk,” Cox stated during an appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union.”
Authorities are working diligently to uncover the motive behind the shooting and plan to file charges against the 22-year-old suspect on Tuesday. While Cox confirmed the relationship between Robinson and his transgender roommate, he refrained from linking this aspect directly to the motive for the attack. “The roommate was a romantic partner, a male transitioning to female,” Cox explained. “This partner has been incredibly cooperative and had no idea that this was happening. And, he’s working with investigators right now.”
Cox also shared details of a recent conversation with former President Donald Trump. He described it as a long and sobering discussion, emphasizing the emotional weight of the situation. “He knows better than anyone as someone who literally was injured by a bullet,” Cox remarked. “I understand he’s also very angry. And I get that this is his close personal friend. Anger is a normal reaction.”
