Americus Kiwanis Club Awards $10,000 in Scholarships to Students

The Americus Kiwanis Club has awarded a total of $10,000 in scholarships to several deserving students, providing crucial financial support for their educational journeys. This initiative reflects the club’s commitment to fostering academic achievement and leadership within the community.
Sadie Hancock, an elementary education major from Manchester, Georgia, expressed her gratitude upon receiving the scholarship. “I actually was a little shocked,” she admitted, highlighting her personal connection to the Kiwanis organization. “I did feel very honored, because I have a Kiwanis club in the town I’m from, and my grandfather’s a part of it.” Hancock draws inspiration from her family role models, including her mother and grandparents. “I’ve had a lot of great influences in my life, and I want to have that positive impact on others,” she stated. She concluded with a heartfelt message: “I’m just very grateful that I was picked to be a recipient of the scholarship, and I thank all the members of the Kiwanis Club.”
Another recipient, Boone Prince, is an exercise science student from Cairo, Georgia. As a member of the Jimmy Carter Leadership Program and the president of Sigma Chi, Prince is actively engaged in his academic and extracurricular pursuits. He is also preparing applications for graduate school. Reflecting on his scholarship, he said, “Just an amazing feeling, and just makes you have to worry about one thing less.” Prince added, “Glad to be here, glad to be a part of this, and look forward to seeing you all some more throughout the semester.”
The Americus Kiwanis Club’s scholarship program extends beyond these two students. Other recipients include Ethan Beck, a pre-engineering student from Americus, Georgia; Brody Bellomo, a management student from Tampa, Florida; and Perry Bennett, a Health and PE student from Cobb, Georgia. Additional scholarships were awarded to Cierra Brown, a pre-nursing student from Butler, Georgia; Elise Cherry, a pre-nursing student from Sylvester, Georgia; Kenlee Dalton, a pre-nursing student from Moultrie, Georgia; Jordin Gundin, a marketing student from Valrico, Florida; and Megan Pitts, a pre-nursing student from Griffin, Georgia.
The contributions made by the Americus Kiwanis Club serve as a vital resource for students striving to achieve their academic goals. Through these scholarships, the club not only alleviates some financial burdens but also encourages the next generation of leaders in their respective fields.
