Beca Arreola Shines as Carmel Volleyball’s Rising Star

Carmel sophomore libero Beca Arreola is making a significant impact on her high school volleyball team, demonstrating both talent and perseverance. After overcoming challenges two years ago, Arreola has emerged as a key player for the Carmel High School volleyball team, which currently boasts a record of 7-1.
Arreola’s journey has not been without its hurdles. She faced struggles during her time with a club volleyball team that left her questioning her passion for the sport. “The coach did not believe in me,” she recalled. “I knew I was a good player and was doing the best I could, but I was constantly told I was not good enough.” Following a two-month hiatus from volleyball, Arreola returned with renewed determination, enlisting a trainer to refine her skills.
When she initially failed to make the varsity team at the start of her freshman year, Arreola remained focused on her goals. “My mentality was to work harder and do whatever I can to make this freshman team and win,” she said. Her efforts paid off as she helped the freshman team go undefeated, which led to a late-season promotion to the varsity squad. In limited appearances, Arreola recorded 34 digs and three aces, proving her worth to the coaching staff.
Carmel’s head coach, David Pazely, praised Arreola’s contributions. “She was a huge piece of our first undefeated team ever,” he noted. “It got to the point where we couldn’t ignore her.” During the playoffs, Arreola played a crucial role in securing victories against teams like Antioch and Prairie Ridge.
This season, the 5-foot-4 Arreola has solidified her position as a starting player. After demonstrating her skills in a match against Marian Central Catholic on September 4, 2025, where she recorded 10 digs during a two-game sweep, she has amassed a total of 67 digs and achieved a remarkable 97% serving percentage with eight aces. “This year she has continued to level up her play,” Pazely remarked, highlighting her speed and game awareness.
Arreola’s playing style has caught the attention of her teammates. Senior setter Suzy Trznadel, a captain and returning starter, acknowledged the positive influence Arreola has on the team dynamic. “Beca changes the dynamic of the team,” Trznadel said. “Her ability to read the hitter and adjust to the blockers is impeccable.”
Second-year starter Charlotte Shepherd also recognizes Arreola’s talent and encouraged her to join the Wisconsin Juniors club team. “Beca has one of the highest volleyball IQs I’ve seen in my volleyball career,” Shepherd noted. “Her competitive mindset is always determined to get better each play in practice.”
Looking ahead, Arreola has clear aspirations for herself and her team. “I want to grow with my team,” she stated. “I have to be loud and constantly talking and getting better with my serve-receive.” With her leadership qualities and dedication, Arreola aims to guide her team to success.
Her story reflects not only her individual commitment to improvement but also the collective effort of the Carmel volleyball program to build a competitive team. As Arreola continues to develop her skills, she stands as a testament to the power of resilience and hard work in sports.
