Jay Wright has announced his decision to step away from his role as a full-time television analyst, allowing him to dedicate more time to his responsibilities at Villanova University. This move comes after three years of providing analysis for CBS Sports and TNT Sports, roles he undertook following his retirement from coaching.

Wright joined CBS Sports and TNT Sports as a college basketball analyst in 2022. Initially serving as a game analyst during the regular season, he later transitioned to studio analysis for the NCAA tournament. In a statement shared on social media, Wright expressed gratitude for the experiences he gained during his broadcasting tenure. “I’m grateful for the incredible experiences and friendships. I look forward to staying connected and collaborating with them on future projects,” he stated.

In his current position as a special assistant to the president at Villanova, Wright is involved in fundraising, advising, and educational initiatives. This role allows him to leverage his extensive experience in college athletics to support the university in various capacities.

Wright’s coaching career at Villanova spanned 21 seasons, during which he achieved remarkable success. He led the Wildcats to two national championships in 2016 and 2018 and made four appearances in the Final Four. His overall coaching record stands at 642-282, combining his time at both Hofstra and Villanova.

The shift back to his university role underscores Wright’s commitment to Villanova and highlights the importance of mentorship and guidance in college athletics. His contributions to the university and the sport of basketball remain impactful, and his legacy continues to inspire both current and future athletes.

As he embarks on this new chapter, Wright’s focus will undoubtedly enhance Villanova’s basketball program and its community initiatives, further solidifying his role as a key figure in college sports.
