Last Chance to View Charles B. Rogers Exhibit Ends Friday!
URGENT UPDATE: The final days to view the Charles B. Rogers Collection at the Great Bend Public Library are here! Visitors have just two chances left: Thursday and Friday, August 29, 2023, to appreciate this captivating exhibit before it returns to the Shafer Art Gallery.
Join us tomorrow, August 29, from 3-5 p.m. for a special reception featuring snacks and beverages. This is a unique opportunity to engage with members of the Shafer Art Gallery and deepen your appreciation for the art on display. Don’t miss out—this collection won’t be back for a while!
But the excitement doesn’t stop there. As September approaches, the library launches National Library Card Sign-Up Month. If you’ve misplaced your card or it’s seen better days, you can get a free replacement throughout September. Mark your calendars, as the library will close on September 1 for Labor Day but will resume regular hours the following day.
In addition to the art exhibit, the library is gearing up for a busy fall season. Starting next Tuesday, September 5, Baby Bounce and Early Literacy Story Times will return at 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., respectively. These programs are designed for children aged 0-5, focusing on early literacy through engaging activities like music, rhymes, and free play. Every child attending story time this fall will enter a drawing for a free book!
For teens in grades 6-12, the library is hosting the Teen Café on Tuesday, September 5, from 4-5:30 p.m.. Join us for coffee and hot chocolate while creating your own Artist Trading Cards to trade with artists worldwide.
Looking ahead, don’t miss the return of Delicious Dishes on Thursday, September 4, at 6 p.m.. This interactive class invites participants of all ages to reinvent popular recipes from beloved restaurants. Note that children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.
Are you curious about tabletop role-playing games? The library is excited to announce the new Tabletop Teens miniseries starting on September 12, where players will navigate the Nexus, a thrilling warzone combining fantasy and sci-fi elements. Registration is required, and spots are limited, so don’t wait to secure your place!
