Matthew McConaughey Reunites with True Detective Creator on Netflix
BREAKING: Matthew McConaughey is set to return to the small screen in an exciting new Netflix series created by Nic Pizzolatto, the mastermind behind True Detective. Interestingly, HBO, which has had a strained relationship with Pizzolatto, was not in the bidding for this new project.
In addition to this new series, McConaughey and Pizzolatto are also set to work together on a feature film adaptation of the Mike Hammer detective novels, backed by Skydance. This collaboration follows their announcement in June 2025, further solidifying their creative partnership.
McConaughey is also preparing to make his film return this fall with The Lost Bus, directed by Paul Greengrass. The movie, which centers on the devastating Camp Fire, is scheduled to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 5, 2024. Pizzolatto will debut his own crime drama, Easy’s Waltz, at TIFF, featuring stars like Vince Vaughn and Al Pacino.
