D-backs’ Arrival Delayed to 4 a.m. Due to Plane Issues

URGENT UPDATE: The Arizona Diamondbacks faced significant travel setbacks, arriving in Milwaukee at nearly 4 a.m. CDT Monday, just hours ahead of their crucial four-game series against the Brewers. Mechanical issues with their plane, specifically brake problems, forced the team to find an alternate flight, delaying their departure from Arizona.
Manager Torey Lovullo revealed the team experienced a frustrating five-hour delay while waiting for a replacement aircraft. “We had to find another plane,” Lovullo stated. “It was like a five-hour window before another plane could pick us up.” Lovullo finally reached his hotel room around 4:30 a.m., providing him with just about 14 hours before Monday night’s game.
Despite the setbacks, Lovullo praised director of team travel Roger Riley for keeping the team informed during the lengthy wait, which came on the heels of the Diamondbacks’ 6-1 loss to the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday. The team found innovative ways to pass the time during the delay, including listening to an album of original songs released by reliever John Curtiss.
“We were shooting the breeze, doing things a team would do if you had a rain delay or a plane delay,” Lovullo explained. “We took advantage of it, for sure.” The camaraderie displayed during this unexpected challenge highlights the resilience of the team as they prepare to face the Brewers.
As the Diamondbacks gear up for tonight’s game, fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see how this travel disruption impacts their performance on the field. With tensions high and the stakes even higher, the team is determined to shake off the early morning fatigue and make a strong showing against Milwaukee.
Stay tuned for further updates as the Diamondbacks navigate the challenges of their travel schedule and look to bounce back from their recent defeat.
