UPDATE: Thousands of corgi fans flocked to Vilnius, Lithuania this weekend for the highly anticipated Corgi Race Vilnius, where 120 teams from across Europe showcased their furry companions in a series of thrilling competitions. The event took place on August 23-24, 2025, attracting an estimated 7,000 spectators eager to witness the adorable antics and impressive skills of Welsh Pembroke and Cardigan corgis.

Participants and their owners traveled from countries including Latvia, Poland, Austrian, Italy, and Germany to compete in events such as races, solo sprints, costume contests, and a “mightiest voice” competition. “Vilnius will transform into the center of the corgi universe, and we want every dog lover to be a part of it,” organizers stated.

Among the many highlights, a corgi named Amigo, dressed in a factory-themed costume, took home the first prize in the costume contest. Other competitors wowed the crowd, with outfits ranging from princesses to superheroes, including Batman and even an airplane.

The excitement peaked on Sunday with the World Corgi Meetup, where Lithuanian corgis connected virtually with fellow pups in the United States, Ireland, and Poland. “This is so much fun and great emotion for the entire family, something bright that many people are craving for these days,” said Janina Stoniene, a retired teacher who attended the event with her three grandchildren.

In the fiercely contested solo race, a corgi named Mango emerged victorious. “So this is a mango, like a fruit mango, and we are participating (for the) second time in Corgi Race 2025,” said Ignas Klimaika, a proud corgi owner from Vilnius. “Last year we didn’t manage to end the race perfectly. We trained every day, but this year we just decided to enjoy all the lots of corgis.”

The event has grown significantly since its inception, with last year’s edition attracting 100 corgis from five countries, drawing close to 7,000 fans. The palpable excitement and joy shared among participants and attendees made this year’s Corgi Race Vilnius an unforgettable experience for all.

As the event wraps up, fans are already looking forward to the next edition of this unique celebration of corgis and community spirit, reaffirming the bond between humans and their beloved pets. Stay tuned for more updates on upcoming dog events and competitions!
