Navy Football Set to Launch 2025 Season Against VMI on August 30
Navy football is poised to return to the field with its season opener against the Virginia Military Institute (VMI) on August 30, 2025. The Midshipmen aim to build on a successful previous season, during which they finished with a commendable 10-3 overall record and a 6-2 standing in the American Athletic Conference (AAC). Under the leadership of second-year head coach Brian Newberry, the team is eager to make a significant impact this year.
Last season showcased the Midshipmen’s strength as they triumphed over long-standing rivals, defeating Air Force with a score of 34-7 and Army 31-13 in the Army-Navy game. These victories allowed Navy to reclaim the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy for the first time since 2019. Quarterback Blake Horvath played a pivotal role in the team’s success, achieving over 1,000 rushing and passing yards and leading the Midshipmen to a bowl victory against the Oklahoma Sooners.
As the 2025 season approaches, hopes are high for the Midshipmen. Analysts project an average win total of 8.5 games, with odds of +425 for Navy to secure the AAC title.
