Auto Zone Construction Approved in Wright Twp., Auction Planned

BREAKING: Construction of an Auto Zone in Wright Township is officially underway following key approvals from local authorities. The township planning commission granted conditional approval during their meeting on July 15, allowing the development to move forward on a site adjacent to the Steve Shannon Tire and Auto Center on South Mountain Boulevard.
In an important follow-up, township supervisors confirmed the plan on August 11, specifically sanctioning a stormwater management facility that supports the Auto Zone project. This development is expected to bring significant economic activity to the area, enhancing local employment opportunities and providing residents with convenient access to auto parts and services.
In addition to the Auto Zone news, Wright Township and neighboring Dorrance Township are set to auction used equipment, including two dump trucks, to generate additional funds. The online auction, facilitated by Auctions International, Inc., will run from August 20 to September 3. Dorrance Township is particularly focused on selling a 2014 Dodge Ram 5500 Dump Truck, with all bids to be evaluated during the September 8 Supervisors meeting.
Wright Township is also seeking bids for a 2005 GMC C7500 dump truck, with a minimum bid set at $12,000. Other equipment up for sale includes a set of Haenni scales, a Salt Dog Taigare spreader, and a 10-foot Smith hopper, with minimum bids ranging from $1,000 to $5,000. Notably, a previous bid for the Smith hopper was rejected at $750.
On a related note, Dorrance Township supervisors have approved a sewage facility plan for the Blue Ridge Estates development, which was initially approved last year. This substantial project will unfold on an approximately 78-acre site at the intersection of Stairville and Blytheburn Roads. The development, led by The Preserve at Blue Ridge LLC, will feature 22 wooded building sites ranging from 2.5 to 4.96 acres, catering to families looking for spacious new homes.
In another significant development for Wright Township, supervisors have awarded a contract worth $328,568.40 to Lehigh Asphalt Paving and Construction Co. for paving Oak Road and Terrace Drive. This project is funded through a Local Share Account (LSA) grant, and supervisors plan to apply for an additional LSA grant of $379,635.50 to pave Stone Hedge Place.
As these developments unfold, residents and stakeholders are encouraged to stay informed about upcoming meetings and auctions, as they promise to shape the future of both Wright and Dorrance Townships significantly. The community’s engagement in these processes is crucial as local leaders aim to enhance infrastructure and services in the area.
